Today I am sad. I am allowing myself this day to marinate in all the feelings... good-byes... changes...
This day to breathe-in the city, my home and my friends. This day to find the things which I can take with me, in my heart and in my mind, and honor the process of letting it all go.

I haven't enough fingers and toes to count all of the times that I have moved. This isn't even the first or second time that I'll be moving across the country with no address to claim and only weeks to get ready.
However, Austin is my first hometown that fit. Austin is the first hometown where I met people truly like me. Austin managed to hold on to me for 6 years and without realizing I began to nestle and settle in a way that I have not done before.

The pain is momentary; the contraction and fear before the big push of birth into a new and wonderful existance. It will pass and I will be stronger for the experience of it.

But right now, just today... I'm going to experience it.
Take a deep breath, get down in it and truly know it. Remember that where my courage exists there can be no real fear.

Today I honor my separateness; I am not my belongings, I am not my location, nothing, save my soul, has ever truly been mine. And I honor my oneness; the way this town, and the people in it, have enriched my soul and become a part of it.

Thank you Austin.
Thank you Friends.

I love you and I will miss you.

The future's in the air

I can feel it everywhere
Blowing with the wind of change...

The wind of change
Blows straight into the fac
e of time
Like a stormwind that will ring the freedom bell
For peace of mind....

-Scorpions

In light of recent changes, namely, a severely limited amount of time, we will be doing things a little differently than planned, but we try to make it a point to do everything that we do...a little differntly. ;-)

Beginning this evening, pictures of our belongings, which are up for auction, will be added to our Flicker Photostream. You will be able to browse the auction items by clicking the Flicker image (right over there in the right hand column) displaying the most recent photo entries. We'll do our best to give a description of each item, including some dimensions, and what-not, when we can.

Then, at 7am on Saturday, May 24th the silent auction will begin. Bidding will be open from 7am to 5pm so that you can come by, rummage, test, see, smell... whatever it is you like to do to inspect an item. Within reason ;-) Beginning at 5pm, the items will be traded for payment to the highest bidder. A schedule disclosing the order in which the items will be dolled out will be posted here and will also be noted on the bidding sheet coresponding to each specific item.

This way, you will be able to come by at any time between 7am and 4:59pm and place a bid. You can then hang out and enjoy the festivites or leave and return at 5pm when the highest bidders are being announced.

Payment will be accepted in the form of cash only and the higest bidder must be present at the time of announcement to claim the item. If the highest bidder is not present to claim the item it will go to the next highest bidder.

Wanna help somehow? Awesome! We. Need. Help.

Magic Bus

I've been drawn to housing on wheels since I was a kid. I can clearly recall spending time with my sister and temporary step brother, during my 5th grade year, rolling out the butcher paper onto the floor and drawing a giant van/bus/RV thing. We would then separate the "cargo area" into suites and begin drawing our own dream house inside of this giant house on wheels. I can't, for the life of me, remember what made us decide that it was to be on wheels and not just a giant house....

So, it's an idea that has appealed to me for a long time and I have often taken note of images of such a life in movies, books, etc.

However, it wasn't until I stumbled upon this amazing example from Enchanted Gypsy that I had true inspiration for what it could really be.

Stay Tuned...

We're working out the glitches and the code this weekend....

Keep checking back 'cause the site will change as much as we do; which is to say...dramatically, and constantly!

We hope to have the auction section of our site up and running by Monday. That's only two days away, so set your bookmarks and don't forget to come check it out. When I say, "all of our belongings", I really mean it! The auction will be sorted by rooms, ie: Living, Kitchen, etc. so that there will be some ease to browsing the massive number of things up for grabs.

We will be adding video, audio and a ton of pictures day by day!

the Auction will be completed and the dolling out of items will take place the weekend of June 14th ***Actually, now it's May 24th****, so everything will be happening good and fast between now and then.

Hold on to your hats, cause here we go!

The Auction

In about 120 days we’re moving and we’re not taking much with us.

In order to fund our dreams we’re going to run a silent auction and free ourselves of most of our belongings. Everything from my wedding rings and our fully loaded Dodge Intrepid and Honda Odyssey to our dishes. But that isn’t all. Oh, no…

We’re going to corral our dear friends into sharing the day with us, helping us keep order, or donating their awesome talents ;-) I’m thinking, 5 minutes of massage for $1…professional portraits for $20… beautiful handmade crafts…. We’ll run an artists/crafters faire alongside our silent auction and going away party!

What’s that they say about knowing who your real friends are when you move? haha!

So, here’s the plan:

When you click on the Auction link, you will be able to see pictures of our belongings as we update, day by day. See something you like? You can place a bid, either monetary or a barter. Each item will be logged so that you can see what’s been bid.

Then, the weekend before we move, we will be ending the online portion of the auction. Saturday morning all items will be pulled and tagged with the highest bid and the bidder’s name and should be picked that morning. Anything not picked up will be placed in Saturday’s silent auction. People will be welcome to come by, rummage through, take part in the festivities, and place bids for what remains. Sunday morning, all items will go to the highest bidder, which will be announced on the site Saturday night.

What are we going to do now that we’ve auctioned off all of our worldly possesions?

We’ll be sitting with a lump of cash and bartered items and nothing else. So, we buy our first home. Get ready. Here it comes:

A school bus. Yep. We’re going to convert a school bus into a mobile house of sorts. Very rough at first. Just enough to camp out of this summer. We’ll stock it with our food and our healing items, herbs, and the like, and we’ll head off towards Wyoming to join up with the Rainbow Family of Living Light at the annual Gathering. Talk about a place to learn some living skills!

Then, off to Wisconsin, where we’ll be settling for a year, giving our dream a trial run! Having lived out of a partially converted bus for a few months, this part of our journey should come with relative ease, don’t ya think?

This is where we will give a test run to our greenhouse designs, vegetable choices, etc. We will also be outfitting our bus as a fully workable, year round living home, from which we can travel the country, meeting people, trading skills, and learn learn learn. We will also be traveling with a full apothecary of herbal tinctures, flower and gemstone essences, oils, and herbs. Everything we have to offer will be offered up free for those in need. Donations and trades will be gratefully accepted but never ever required. All people deserve help, love and health and we will do our small part to bring that to the world.

How long will we live this way? As long as we wish, until we find that perfect piece of land and the perfect people with which to begin building our dream! A community centered around health, freedom and joy!

A totally self sustaining market farmstead! Complete with a central kitchen, library, workshop, classroom, studio and gymnasium. Click on over to The Dream to read more about it!

Keep coming back! We’ll be updating about our wild adventure as we go! Come watch what happens! How does our story unfold? Want to play a part?
