Intuition, Courage, Destiny, Tenacity...

"Every search begins with beginners' luck and ends with the victor's being severely tested." - Paul Cohelo in The Alchemist
Nichola dances in her chair as she licks the guacamole I made from her fingers, and listens to Quinn sing, and I am filled, for the millionth time this day, with such a sense of peace and happiness.

Everything painful behind us, and in retrospect so utterly fleeting, our days are again filled with the dreams, happiness, play and fun that they were before. Knowing that we are planning to settle into a house for a while, if not permanently, is bringing forth everyone's dreams of where they yet wanted to visit, what they still wanted to see and savoring the incredible sense of expansive freedom brought by the promise of travel and close friends.

All repairs are completed and today Jeff is installing the final touch, our new air conditioner, as we look forward to moving back into our home and our own personal habits.

As summer frees our cravings into lighter, simpler foods both kids have taken to helping prepare, as well as making their own meals of cheeses, vegetables, fruits and homemade trail mixes. Water seems easier to drink and tea is gulped faster than I can make it.

With the debilitating symptoms of pregnancy removed by listening closely enough to my body to discover the simple nutritional cures, our lives have again opened up to us. Jeff knocked out more work in three weeks than he had been able to do in the two months that we fretted and worried about my declining health. We have money in our savings account again and we feel generally free and proud for overcoming the obstacles, even when they were so seemingly incredible.

A friend recently sent pictures that she had taken of us at the very beginning of our journey (Thanks P!) and I marveled at how much we have changed and grown in such a short time... at how much we had seen, done, accomplished...
How much older both kids are.

I have utter faith not just in homeschooling, but in what is often called un-schooling. Despite this, Quinn (and even Nichola) continue to amaze me with the seeming overnight, un-compelled, learning. A mere month after someone questioned Quinn's math education (at the ancient age of 6!) He has discovered, fully, the art of addition and subtraction, and can be heard trying to explain what he has discovered to Nichola.

In less than a month many of our very closest friends will be converging on my favorite place, a place we were already headed to search for a home. A place known for having an incredibly high rate of midwifery and low rate of cesareans. A place nourishing the souls of artists and home to amazing organic farms, permaculture institutes, mountains, forests and every single thing we have hoped for.

We need only now have the patience to find the most perfect home. Patience... Serenity... Wisdom... Courage...

"When we decide to trust the flow that flourishes as a result of our heart-felt convictions we are assured of the coincidences which guide us on our journey. We tap into a universal language that speaks to our hearts rather than hearing social moors that speak to our fears." -Hygeia Halfmoon

I have heard that the only thing which makes a dream impossible to achieve is the fear of failure. I, personally, don't believe in accidental or inevitable failure. Many times I have been told that something is not possible or not realistic... Many, many times. Each time my response has been, silently, "perhaps for you." Each of those impossible, unrealistic, risky dreams, through my own courage and action, have brought about each of my life's greatest achievements.

"Tis a lesson you should heed, try, try again. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." - Thomas Palmer

I think that Alchemist quote says it all. It certainly sound like things are back on track. Let me know when (and how) I can contact you guys. I might have an outdated number for Jeff.

With tons of Love,

Jack

very, very glad to hear that the troubles are behind. Your dedication to a life well lived is an inspiration.

As for homeschooling, (or un-schooling) I have often said that working in the public schools is the best argument for homeschooling. The state of our education system is so frustrating, with overcrowding and little attention paid to individual students' needs or ability to learn by experience...but you know all of this, I'm sure.

That is why going back to the classroom has become my new goal. I want to be the teacher that gives the students the tools to succeed and learn in any system, broken or not. Because so many of them are there, and giving up on the system is giving up on all those whose parents don't have the ability to do what you do.

whew. I do go on.

I think we have found the perfect place, yes! We hope to be moving in in about a month! :-D

The kids are very happy, though Quinn maintains that he wants to see Cali and the Grand Canyon before we stop. I'm trying to figure out how to swing both ... Nichola is asking about the beach since her cousins went this week.

Can't win for winning? LOL
