Shhhhh..... I'm Making Space....

As one of my lessons in my Mondo Beyondo course I am creating space in my life by temporarily getting rid of something that sucks time, drains or burdens me.

Being that the house is empty of all extra items and the TV has been gone for 5 years... I knew exactly what had to be cleared out... the computer.

While I try keep my time online focused on productive things, over the years the lines have become a little blurred. I deleted my Facebook account (yes, it is possible!) several months ago, but have gotten sucked into the networking and community aspect of Twitter, the two blogs that I used to follow seem to have blossomed into too many, and interesting links that come by way of email and tweets can suck time like nothing else. While reading about educating my children, the state of our food supply, gardening, healing, etc are all noble and worthwhile things, they are not things which need to take up my time on a daily basis.

So, here's to a week of silence... shutting out the world wide buzz and creating a little space for more living...

I'll see you again in a week...

xoxo

We went three years without a computer/internet/television (still no tele). When we did get a computer so much had gone by without us noticing/knowing about it.
I find when I am at someone's home and the tv is on I can watch endless commercials. Fascinating and horrifying in one, can't look away.
Enjoy your week!!!!

Here Here! We limit technology time as a family... it actually stresses us all out and overstimulates a couple of the kiddos. However, PLeeeeeeeeeeeease don't disappear! The one major thing I am so thankful for as far as the internet goes is the fact that where there has been a gap in person to person mentoring within the last couple of generations... that is now at our finger tips in full force! Blogs like yours are priceless to many. On the other hand , it can DEF be a time sucker too ;-)

I pulled two months with no computer when we moved back in October. But, since December, I've been back online, and tell me....what is this strange world of no Facebook like? haha! I pop off and on, do no quizzes, or applications, and so I feel like I don't get sucked in too badly.

But, blogs? Hooked. No, really. Like, drop me off at the Betty-hooked.

I do have a system. I visit certain blogs on one day, and others another. And, because we are night owls, I don't do this while my son is wanting to go explore or play. If he were younger, or there were more children, I am sure my internet time would become obsolete.

I just found your blog, I really hope you do continue on in some form! Looking forward to reading more!!

I have read all your blogs. Yes all of them. It seems you are constanly searching for happiness. You are always reading books, asking for advice from readers, and meditating. I am ernestly asking and praying you take some of your reading time to open the Holy Bible. You do not seem to have trouble reading other forms of religion so I hope you are just as open to read Gods word and see what He wants to tell you. There is your only peace, comfort, and happiness.

I would love to know if you have withdrawals, and how it goes.

Am I like the only person alive who doesn't have facebook, lol?

I used to be online way more than I will profess. I am very happy these days to have cut that down substantially. Yes, I have my list of blogs but they don't take long to go through. Other than that I only go on for pertinent info that pertains to homeschooling or ravelry for a knitting pattern, something like that.

Molly,
This is my only blog, outside of the blog that I posted about three posts to several years ago.

As is the human experience I am always moving toward happiness, education and higher spirituality. I do not however believe that providing this is the job of my readers. I also do not believe that these things are to be found anywhere outside of myself. Books, relationships, writing, practice... these are all things which provide glimpses, inspiration, signposts, reminders...

I also absolutely can not agree that the Bible is the only place where peace, comfort and happiness can be found. I would feel very sorry for any person who could find these there alone.

Also, I have read, not just the Bible, but many books about the bible... taken a class on the bible, sat in Bible study and held a great many conversations on the Bible. Being a reader of my blog you may have recognized the many quotes that I have used which come directly from the Bible.
My two very best friends identify as Christians. The Bible and the religions that go with it are something which I am very familiar with.
